Designed for Optimal Safety

The Apollo Discovery 58000-600apo is encased in a robust white moulded polycarbonate enclosure featuring carefully designed smoke inlets.

These smoke inlets have been engineered to resist wind, offering an additional level of safety. Hidden within this sleek enclosure are red indicator LEDs which come alive when the alarm is triggered.

Inside this well-structured case is a printed circuit board (PCB) divided into two sections.

One side houses a light-proof compartment featuring a built-in gauze surrounding the optical measuring system.

On the other side, you'll find the signal processing and communication electronics.

Working Mechanism

The ingenious design of the Discovery 600 ensures a foolproof mechanism for smoke detection.

It features an infra-red (IR) light-emitting diode within a collimator set at an obtuse angle to the photo-diode, thereby blocking any direct light under normal circumstances.

The device sends out a beam of light every second. During a fire, smoke entering the chamber deflects this light onto the photo-diode.

This triggers a signal, which is then processed into an analogue value and transmitted when the sensor is interrogated.
